Dear friends and customers of Captains Select Seafood
On Friday June 6, 2008, after months of discussion with Captains Select seafood, the Food and Drug administration has today asked a court for relief against Captains Select seafood. You may remember this exact filing being done to another popular and smaller seafood distributor in the Twin Cities last year.
However….The FDA's latest inspection occured last year in July and we have been operating since with absolutely no complaints or recalls.
We want to assure you all, we have made numerous attempts to satisfy all requests by the FDA including hiring an expert from the Boston area, which we flew out to inspect, approve and finally write an alternative HACCP plan for the FDA after they rejected our latest submitted plan. Our experts success in the area of writing and having approved HACCP plans was recommended to us by our largest seafood supplier in Boston who used his services, as well as his documented success of being hired by the US government on numerous occasions to visit and write HACCP plans for foreign countries.
Unfortunately, the FDA rejected his HACCP plan as well and notified our lawyer the same day we submitted it to them that they would be filing this motion against us. We have asked this expert to write an affindavit for our lawyer and customers letting them know of the extent to which we had faith in our plan. Although this action by the FDA may result in concerns about the quality of our operations and or products, we wanted to write and explain to you the process we are going through, assure you this is not a result of any health issue as a result of our operation and also let you know we will continue to cooperate with the FDA to resolve this mis-understanding of alleged paperwork inadequacy.
